Digital Adventures in Contemporary Craft by Lab Craft @ The Turnpike Gallery, Leigh

I went to this exhibition with my sister, as I thought it would aid me in my essay. It was great to see craft integrated with modern technology and machinery, to further the concepts behind the pieces. My only criticism is that the show seemed under attended, and would have been better placed in a big city such as Manchester. All in all the show was very inspiring and I would recommend everyone to go and see it!

Monday monday, so good to me

So, I've only got screen shots to put on here, as the file on Illustrator was so mahusive it crashed. Not good. But, I'm working on it. Anywho I'm still working on the ISTD brief and typography has been playing on my mind. Thought I'd give it ago although It's not a strength of mine.

Todays Offerings

Pleased with progress today, exploring poisonous flowers/plants and their effects on humans. All my own images which is quite satisfying! Any feedback would be greatly apreciated =)

ISTD Brief Beginnings

The brief I have chosen to work on is Not just Fleurons. My work's in the early stages but I thought I better get the ball rolling. Im working on image creation, and trying to get back to my usual way of working. The top pic shows my experiments with making petals out of latex.

Outcomes for the Static Project

I started the project looking at how ink and water react to each other, i liked the results and tried to develop the idea but the images i produced were quite cliche. I moved on to freezing water with items trapped inside, i experimented with light when photographing the results. I took these images into photoshop and illustrator and found them to be quite cell like. I wanted to interpret the idea that our genetic make up is held within each cell, and when these cells come together they build us. Similarly to how tiny particles of static make up an image on a television screen. I'm not sure if these are my final pieces as i think they need more development, but i thought i would try and resolve my ideas for the digital pin up. I think the typography and body copy needs more work, but actually making my own images took a lot of time.

A Few More Things I've Done Today

Here's the outcome of a larger ice cube I'd made, and thought while I had the light set up would play around with some rose petals I pressed a few weeks ago. Not sure what I'm going to do with these just yet but just gettin used to photography again.
